Full scream. Hand over mouth. Eyes like saucers. This Japanese teen had the most dramatic reaction of all time. She literally said “I can’t believe you did that” and then looked at it again anyway.

About this scene

Big-box store aisle, weekday late morning. She is a Japanese teen, eighteen or nineteen, in school uniform clothes. The flash happens at her three o'clock. She actually screams. The volume is genuine and loud enough that another shopper at the end of the aisle turns their head. Her hands go to her mouth a half second too late. She does not run away. She just stands there, breathing fast, trying to recover. The breathing audio runs for almost a minute.

What to watch for

The scream is unscripted. You can hear it in the audio quality. It is short, sharp, and the pitch climbs over the half-second duration. The hands-to-mouth is delayed by a meaningful amount. The other shopper at the end of the aisle pauses, registers the situation in three seconds, and politely walks the other way. After they are gone she stays standing in the same spot working through the breathing. Her shoulders rise and fall noticeably. About a minute in she finally walks away.
