Older Woman Locks Eyes On The BBC And Refuses To Break
She didn’t glance. She locked on. Older woman at the store found the BBC and her eyes went wide before settling into a focused stare. She wasn’t embarrassed, she was impressed.
About this scene
Big-box store aisle, weekday late afternoon. She is an older woman, sixties, in casual clothes. The BBC is at conversational distance. She locks eyes on it and does not break for sixty-three seconds. The only time her gaze moves is when she swallows. She does not blink at unusual rates. She does not look at his face. She does not look at her own basket. She does not look at the floor or the shelves or anything else in the aisle for over a minute.
What to watch for
The single swallow is the only interruption in the entire eye lock. You can pinpoint it at about the thirty-second mark. After that her gaze returns to the angle and stays there for another half-minute. The audio is quiet. There is no music. There are no other shoppers. The aisle is just the two of them and the camera. By the time she finally breaks the lock she does not say anything. She turns her cart and walks off without looking back at all.
