Quiet nerdy type, glasses, probably reads a lot. She was deep in product comparison mode when she looked up and saw something that wasn’t on her shopping list. Adjusted her glasses and looked again.
About this scene
Big-box store aisle, weekday late morning. She is a nerdy blonde, twenties, in glasses. The flash is across the aisle. She removes her glasses, huffs on the lenses, wipes them with the inside of her shirt, and puts them back on. The whole procedure takes fifteen seconds. The procedure does not change anything. She still sees what she saw. She does not do the cleaning a second time.
What to watch for
The cleaning ritual is the cope. She is doing something familiar to give her brain a moment to catch up. Glasses cleaning is automatic and meditative. The huff, wipe, replace cycle is precisely the same as it always is. After the procedure her glasses are no different than they were before. The flash is still there. She has not solved the problem by cleaning. She accepts it. The remaining minute of the clip she watches openly without further attempts to verify.
