Redhead Can’t Decide If She’s Offended Or Impressed
Her face went through about five emotions in three seconds. Confusion, shock, anger, then something that looked a lot like being impressed won out at the end.
About this scene
Outdoor public area, afternoon. She is a redhead in her thirties. The flash registers. Her face shows two emotions at once for almost a minute. Offended and impressed are both present, in different parts of her face. Her mouth is doing one thing. Her eyes are doing another. Eventually one of the two emotions wins out. The conclusion is not the obvious one.
What to watch for
The split-emotion face is the unusual feature. Most reactions resolve into a single emotion within a few seconds. Hers holds both for nearly a minute. The mouth is in offended-purse-shape. The eyes are in impressed-wide-shape. Neither side gives in. About fifty seconds in the eyes finally win and the mouth loosens into a small smile. The transition is gradual. By the end she is amused without being particularly impressed anymore. The offense has faded. She walks on still smiling.
