City bus, daytime, half-full carriage. She is a Latina, twenties, sitting in a forward-facing seat. The bulge is across the aisle. She tries to face the window. The angle pulls her gaze the other direction. She tries again. Same result. She gives up on the window and just lets her eyes do what they want. The eyes lock on the angle for the rest of the ride.
What to watch for
The two attempts to face the window are the visible willpower failures. Each attempt lasts about ten seconds before her eyes drift back. The third try she does not even attempt. She has accepted that her gaze is not going to cooperate. After the surrender her face relaxes slightly because she is no longer fighting herself. The bus continues for several stops. She does not get off until the very end of the route.
