Shoe store, weekday afternoon, half-staffed. She is a young woman, twenties, sitting on the bench trying on shoes. Right shoe on, laces still untied. Left shoe still in the box on her lap. The flash is across the floor. She looks up. She forgets about the shoes. The left shoe slides off her lap onto the carpet. She does not pick it up. The next minute of the clip she sits on the bench with her shopping completely abandoned.
What to watch for
The abandoned shoe on the floor is the comedic prop. It sits there for the rest of the clip. The salesperson eventually walks past, glances at it, and continues without picking it up. He is reading the situation correctly and not interrupting. Her sock-footed left foot stays on the carpet next to the empty shoe box. She does not put the shoe back on for almost three minutes. By then the salesperson has come back and politely asked if she'd like to try a different size.
