She Turns The Corner And Drops Her Shopping Bag
Came around the corner not expecting anything and whatever was in that bag hit the ground. She didn’t pick it up for a while either. Priorities shifted.
About this scene
Grocery store produce section, mid-afternoon. She turns the corner from one aisle to the next, two paper bags in one hand. The flash is at the apple display. The bag handles slip out of her grip. The apples scatter across the linoleum, fifteen of them rolling in different directions. She does not move to pick them up. She stands there, both hands now empty, just watching. About forty seconds in she finally crouches down and starts gathering them.
What to watch for
The forty-second delay is the unusual part. Most people would crouch immediately. She lets the apples roll and watches them go. Two roll under the produce display itself and she has to fish them out with her arm extended underneath the lip. One rolls all the way across the aisle and bumps into another shopper's cart. That shopper bends down to pick it up and hands it back. She thanks the shopper without making eye contact, eyes still on the flash.
