About this scene
Setup clip, no payoff in this video. She's walking past the parked car at normal speed, headed for the storefront across the lot. She clocks the flash through the open window. Her pace drops by maybe twenty percent, not enough to look obvious, just enough that she stretches the next four steps into seven. Her head doesn't turn. Her shoulders shift a quarter inch toward the car. By the time she's past the rear bumper she's already decided what she's going to do on the way back.
What to watch for
The pace drop is the only thing that happens in the clip and it's the entire point. Count her footfalls per second before and after the line of sight opens up. The change is subtle but it's there. Watch her shoulders too. They roll inward slightly, like she's holding herself a little tighter, which is a tell. The follow-up clip in the series is where it actually pays off. This one is the moment she decided.
