About this scene
Mall central walkway, weekend afternoon. Two friends walking together, one says something to the other in a quiet voice without breaking stride. The other one steps to the same side of the aisle without asking why. They both end up two feet closer to the flash than they started. They are not being subtle. They both look. Then they walk at half-speed for the next twenty feet and continue conversing about it.
What to watch for
The synchronized step-over is the mechanic. One friend communicates the angle and the other complies without needing to verify. That kind of trust takes practice. The whisper is short and the side-step is clean. After they pass they keep walking but their pace drops by half. They are clearly still talking about it. About forty feet further down the corridor one of them looks back over her shoulder and says something else, and the other one laughs.
