About this scene
Outdoor sidewalk, weekday afternoon, three buildings down from a coffee shop. He's leaning on the side of his parked car. She walks past the first time, head up, normal pace. She stops at the corner, turns around, and walks back. Pass two she slows. Pass three she stops walking entirely about ten feet away and just stands there. He notices her on pass three. The eye contact lasts almost twenty seconds before she walks the last ten feet.
What to watch for
Each pass shows a different commitment level. Pass one is a glance. Pass two is interest. Pass three is decision. The walking speed drops measurably across the three passes. By pass three her stride is half the speed of pass one. The stop at ten feet is the inflection point. Most amateurs would walk away at that distance. She does not. She stands her ground, makes the eye contact, and lets him close the gap.
