About this scene
Outside a restaurant, side wall, smoking area. She watches the girlfriend walk inside toward the bathroom. The friend is already in position by the wall, leaning forward with both hands on the brick. She doesn't look back. He approaches from the parking side, no conversation, no greeting. The encounter starts within twelve seconds of the bathroom door closing inside. They have under three minutes before the girlfriend comes back out.
What to watch for
The timing is the only thing that matters. Watch the wall clock visible through the window of the restaurant. It moves from eight-forty to eight-forty-three and they're done. He pulls out, she straightens her dress, and walks back to the front door. The girlfriend comes out of the bathroom thirty seconds later. The friend is already at the table. There is no eye contact between her and him for the rest of the night. The discipline of the timing is the part that sells the clip.
