The escalating fake-shopping is the comedic structure. Each pass has less of a cover story than the last. The list, the reread of the list, then the abandonment of the list. By the third pass she's holding the list crumpled in her hand and not even looking at it. Her cart fills with three additional items she did not need, picked up off the shelves she was passing as she made the loops. At the register her bill is six dollars higher than it should have been.
